Naree Shakti was set up in 2005 by a group of Asian Women who felt there was insufficient support for Asian Women in the Borough of Enfield. Mrs Vijey Rattan a very influential community leader felt the need for a support centre for Asian women who were unable to engage with mainstream services due to language and cultural barriers. The organisation became a registered charity in 2006 and has since been providing information and advice, support and advocacy, education and training to Asian women and their families in Enfield.

Naree Shakti aims to:

  • Improve the physical and mental health and overall wellbeing of Asian women and their families
  • Reduce the risk of violence and abuse experienced by Asian women and children in the home and in the wider community
  • Increase the civic participation of Asian women, enabling them to have a greater voice and make a contribution to their communities
  • Give Asian women the knowledge to make informed choices that enable them to be economically self-sufficient
  • Build an effective and robust organisation that meets the needs of its partners and stakeholders.
